Valkyrie’s Mission- #KeepRFDSflying

By Sophie Scutchings

Let’s soar together! Help me raise funds to keep the Flying Doctor flying.

Hi, I'm Soph- callsign Valkyrie!

I'm a kid from Chinchilla, QLD, and in October 2025 I'll be attempting to break the Australian record for most takeoffs and landings by a single aircraft in daylight hours. I've always loved anything that flies, and I'm keen to help others, so I'm very excited about supporting the RFDS to keep looking after rural Australia! I've recently been gifted the opportunity to get my pilot's license and experience the magic of flight. Now, I want to give back.

The number of takeoffs and landings to beat is 145, set by Chinchilla's own Kangawallafox flying Cameron (Sparrow) Obst!  Sparrow's genuine passion and unparalleled generosity inspired me to give this record a crack for the RFDS; I'd love to give back to an organisation that helps Aussies purely out of care.

On the day, I'll be flying a Brumby 610 at the Chinchilla Aerodrome with the support of the Kangawallafox Flight School and a handful of legends to make it count!

Ultimately, it's not the record that matters. It's your help to fundraise for a hardworking group that keeps remote Australia safe. The Flying Doctor is always on call to help and save lives, with nobody in Australia more than 2 hours from care. That’s why I’m asking you to chip in and help the RFDS to provide the finest care to the furthest corner.

Even if you've got a tenner to spare, it all adds up when everybody works together. Let’s send it. Let's see how high our tally can fly!

I'm truly grateful for your support!
