Let’s soar together! Help us raise funds to keep the Flying Doctor flying.

Help keep the Flying Doctor flying!
We are raising funds so the Royal Flying Doctor Service can respond at a moment’s notice for people living, working, and travelling in remote areas in Far North Queensland, Weipa Cape York and Australia.
How are we going to do this you might ask???
Well... Kicking off on Friday the 22nd of August 2025, Michael Collins and David Tuckwood are both running 820km’s from Weipa to Cairns.
Michael & David will both average 50km’s per day for 17 days and they will individually complete the 820km journey (totaling 1,640km’s between them).
This is by far the biggest physical & mental endurance event that Michael and David have ever undertaken, and it will no doubt put both of them beyond their current comfort zones.
Along the way they will also be raising awareness and funds for Far North Queensland Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS) and Weipa Cape Animal Protection Shelter (CAPS).
RFDS is a community service that covers the Weipa and Cape York region with both emergency medical flights to remote locations and also provides mental health services.
CAPS is a local Weipa community “not for profit” organisation that cares for homeless and unwanted dogs focusing on providing animal welfare in Weipa and the surrounding areas.
Michael and David live & work in Weipa and both enjoy running & volunteering at the weekly Weipa Parkrun on Saturday mornings.
Over the last 3 years they have found added meaning through pushing their yearly running, fitness & health goals through the Weipa Running Festival (WRF) events and the Weipa Town Authority (WTA) Community Gym Challenges.
These events & challenges are where Michael & David first became inspired to take on this unique run.
The mental and physical benefits received from these community activities make a big difference to one’s mental outlook & future, thanks to the dedication & motivation of the community spirit found within & around the Weipa community throughout the WTA Gym and the Weipa Running Festival.
More info on the Impact that RFDS makes is below!
Last year alone, the RFDS reached more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary health care. That’s one person every two minutes!
The Flying Doctor is always on call to help and save lives, and that’s why I’m asking you to chip in to and help the RFDS to provide the finest care to the furthest corner.
Go on. Please donate now towards our fundraiser, and let’s see how high our tally can fly.
Thankyou for your Support!! from Michael Collins and David Tuckwood
