Bush BBQ @ Take-A-Break

By Ian & Tracy Forshaw

Let’s soar together! Help me raise funds to keep the Flying Doctor flying.

Help keep the Flying Doctor flying! I’m raising funds so the Royal Flying Doctor Service can respond at a moment’s notice for people living, working, and travelling in remote, rural and regional areas in Australia.

Last year alone, the RFDS reached more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary health care. That’s one person every two minutes!

The Flying Doctor is always on call to help and save lives, and that’s why I’m asking you to chip in to and help the RFDS to provide the finest care to the furthest corner.

Go on. Please donate now towards my fundraiser, and let’s see how high our tally can fly.

Why

This event marks our first fundraising initiative since relocating to Central Queensland approximately eight years ago. The Big BBQ serves as our way of expressing gratitude to an organization that has provided invaluable assistance to numerous individuals in remote and regional areas.

Ian, a lifelong resident of the Gulf, has spent nearly 60 years in Gregory, situated north of Mount Isa and south of Burketown. Tracy moved to the Gulf as a cook, subsequently marrying a local fencer and residing there for 30 years. The RFDS played a significant role in our lives in the Gulf, offering biweekly medical clinics, emergency evacuations, fundraising efforts, and even illuminating the airstrip to facilitate nighttime evacuations. Ian served as the Local Controller for the Gregory State Emergency Service and Rural Fire Brigade, overseeing medical emergencies in the region. Meanwhile, Tracy managed the RFDS Health Clinic, coordinating transport, logistics, and volunteer efforts for catering and cleaning.
We anticipate approximately 100 attendees at the BBQ, which will take place at our venue, Take-A-Bush Camp. Family and friends will assist with setup and cooking.

My impact

So far, my fundraising could help…

Provide a full range of life saving medication such as sedatives, pain relief and antibiotics so the Flying Doctor can be ready for 10 emergency situations.

Send 5 life saving-medical chest to remote communities

Provide one on one counselling to 3 outback Australians during a difficult time

Purchase 2 pieces of equipment that could include ventilators, defibrillators and infusion pumps which are used on board flights
